How to Embed a Video from Youtube

Welcome to this tutorial about embeding a webpage into a website. For the purpose of this tutorialI wil use the popular video website Youtube to aquire a video to embed. Before I get into the tutorial make sure that you have some text editing software open so you can practice for yourself. Enjoy!

Open Youtube

The first place you want to go is Youtube. Once you have arrived at the website think about what video you want to share. Is it for educational purposes? Will it be for entertainment? How much of the video do you want to show? It is important to make sure that you make sure that the video you plan to use doesn't have any special copyright rules attached to it.

Find Your video

Arguably this is one of the most important steps in order to embed your video, if you don't have a video then you won't be able to embed it into your webite. Search for something into the search bar and open up the video. As stated before make sure that you are careful with copyright laws, it can be very dangerous for you and your website if you overstep these laws. You might get hit by a takedown notice if you are lucky, if not you might find yourself in some legal trouble. Just be careful.

Click on the Share Button

You are getting closer! Once you have picked the video you want to use it's time to start the embeding process. On the page that displays the video scroll down until you see the button labeled share and click on the button.

Press on the Embed Button

Once you press the share button you will meet a popup with a variety of sharing options, one happens to labeled "embed". Click on the embed button. Now you will be met with some code that you can easily copy and paste it into your text editor. You are almost there!

Paste it into your code

The last thing left to do is put the code that you just copied into your code. This content should go inside the body tag and does not require a video tag like other videos you may upload. Make sure that the video works before you make your website live.

The Final Result

This is what a sucessful embeding looks like. At the foot of this page I put the theme music from one of my favorite movies of all time:Interstellar.
